2 Case MRE Deal
A guy on another site I frequent just recieved his order, and was satisfied. They are currently shipping MRE's made in early 2008 (2011 inspection date). One Case A and one Case B for $90 plus shipping. I just placed my order and it was $112.66, which works out to $56.33 per case or $4.70 per meal.
Only complaint he had was that they ship in their own boxes to save on shipping costs, so you will not get these in the standard case boxes. He did not have any damaged product, but that could be a possibility given that they are re-packed into 1 larger box. http://www.armygear.net/ag/store/00231.html |
Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
If they are not shipped in the original box they wont have the red dot that changes color when they go bad.
So, how are you going to tell how old they are? |
Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
I ordered from them, no problems with mine.Best deal I could find. I got mine in mid 2009 and they were shipping 2008 dates then.

Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
MRE -1200 1400 calories >$5
Mtn House backpacking entrees for two- 600 calories- ~$6 bucks The value winner- two cans of Chunky brand Chili- 1200 calories for 3.30 @ Walmart. Much more fiber and can be stretched with macaroni or rice. I luv me some chili mac! Of course, beans,Vienna sausages, and rice are much cheaper than all of the above. I think you can make a case for and against MREs. I certainly wouldn't rely on them for my food storage. They are a very small part of my preps. Might even be decent barter material for the people that stored just beans and rice. |

Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
I have some for a "layered approach" MRE's are the "on the go" food most of my preps take lots of time and a stable location to do (grind wheat etc.). So if I am in a hurry or "on the go" I have a self contained meal that is readly available to eat in a hurry. Just having staples gives you a really bland diet and or takes lots of cooking time for example making bread without electricity. I can do it just fine but a loaf of bread isgoing to take a few hours to gather wood, grind wheat, draw water, mix, rise, beatdown, and finaly bake in a wood fired oven that takes lots of monitoring.
For my BOB I use Mtn House freezedried due to weight factors ( I have a toddler so her stuff adds lots of weight) If I was to get the same calories using MRE's as the freeze dried I would have added 12lbs to my pack that currently weighs 58lbs so freezedried it is. My preps are multi layered. To me it would be a pain in the ass to only have 5lb buckets of rice and beans to eat off of. Especialy if I was on the move or pressed for time. So i have lots of variety MRE's, freezedried, regular canned and long term storage of staples. Wheat beans rice powdered milk popcorn etc. That way I am sure to be able to have what I need at the most inconvient of times. |

MRE's are only part of my food preps, which I also use on our many camping trips. THE POINT OF THE ORIGINAL POST IS, that it's a decent deal for those looking to buy MRE's and that others have been satisfied with the deal, nothing more. |

Sucker was the ONLY person in his unit that actually gained weight. Once they established their FOB and established an actual kitchen, he started dropping weight again. But dang man, that's like almost 5000 calories a day. He WAS active, but you can only burn so many calories a day. |
Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
What do you guys think of those MRE trays for feeding multiple people? They run $11.45 at MREdepot and are 7.5 pounds. They got mac and cheese and cornbread and sausage and a couple others. Are those any good?

Lot of eats in a tray, cheep for the amount of a serving But they look like a good way for filling a belly, with some sides to go with them.k More bulky but it looks like they can add mass to the meals and when using the term "mass" it is not in a bad way.. And the price seems right. for the amount of food offered.. imo |
Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
I've eaten C-rations and MREs. We had no idea when the C-rats were made (didn't look for a "sell by" date)
The MREs are certinaly an improvement. They're over $7 each at the commisary, so this appears to be a great price if they're the same ones issued to the troops or sold at the commisary. YMMV, but I could eat for 2 days on the contents of one MRE. I wouldn't gain weight or be ready to run a marathon, but my purpose for hoarding these is survival rather fine dining. And you've got to love those baby hot sauce bottles! |
Re: 2 Case MRE Deal
I bought a case (24) last month. They arrived rather quickly. The shipping, at $23 feels a bit steep, but that's still about $4.60 a meal. You can't get this at McDonalds!
I just placed another order for 4 cases (48 meals). |
